Poll Shows Strong Opposition to Whale Display

I would like to thank each and every individual that contacted my office in response to the survey. After posting the survey I received hundreds of e-mail responses. Over 96% of respondents indicated that they were not in favour of the proposed zoo expansion if it included polar bears or whales. Based on these responses, I asked that the Mayor investigate and clarify the Calgary Zoo’s plans for expansion and if their plans include these animals.I asked that this information be available to all Council members before we provide financing for the project.
