keep bears wild

Throughout Canada, adult bears (designated as nuisance animals) and orphaned cubs have been sent to zoos by a variety of government agencies looking to get them off their hands.

There are now a variety of established, proven protocols for the release of bears, of all ages, back into wild environments, making the disposal of bears to zoos outdated and unnecessary.

Zoocheck is working to encourage government agencies to develop and implement new policies that ensure that all bears are considered for rehabilitation and release to the wild before being abandoned to a life in captivity.
