Join us for a talk with world-renowned scientist and animal advocate Dr. Lori Marino on September 9th at the University of Toronto.
Lori Marino is a neuroscientist, founder and Executive Director of The Kimmela Centre for Animal Advocacy. She was a faculty member at Emory University for twenty years and former science lead of the Nonhuman Rights Project. She is also senior scientist for the Someone, Not Something project, on farm animal cognition.
She is the author of over 100 publications on dolphin and whale brain anatomy and evolution, comparative intelligence and self-awareness in dolphins and primates, and the ethical dimensions of human-nonhuman relationships, including dolphin-assisted therapy and swim programs, as well as elephant-assisted therapy. She serves as an expert witness and consultant on the effects of captivity on animals and the claims of the captivity industry.
